A Planned Self-Exhaustion

A sleepless night usually makes for a grumpy Angela, but today’s early gym sesh actually seemed to keep me supercharged all day!

I got off work earlier than usual, so I decided to head to the gym for workout #2 of the day. Might as well use that time to try and exhaust myself in the hopes of getting more sleep tonight, right?

At the gym, I powered my way through Nike Training Club‘s Worth the Weight workout. Whoo! Left me nice and sweaty. If you have an iPhone, I highly recommend this app. The workouts are great and having pre-planned and pre-programmed workouts in my phone make going to the gym that much easier after a long day of work. :)

I often don’t feel hungry immediately after a gym session. I used to go to the gym and want to come home and eat a ton after, but not anymore. Instead, I sometimes want a light snack, but usually I head straight for the shower and eat after that despite not feeling very hungry. Bizarre, I know! I need to do some research and find out why. But anyway, because of that, dinner after the gym was easy but boring today.

I baked a piece of tilapia with lemon pepper, salt, and lemon juice and steamed some broccoli to have on the side. It was the perfect quick and light dinner.

I desperately need some quality sleep tonight! Toodles.

West Lake Feast

The long weekend has officially started! My family doesn’t celebrate Easter, but to celebrate the long weekend, I’m visiting my parents in central Jersey for the weekend.

One of our family traditions since I went away to school has been feasting whenever we get back together. Pretty sure most families share this tradition, but I don’t mind at all. :)

Tonight we went to West Lake for dinner, one of my parents’ favorite Chinese restaurants in the area. The food is authentic and we’ve been going for years (since I was in 6th grade)! We recognized the manager as usual when we got there, but didn’t see any of the usual servers and were given unfamiliar menus this time. Maybe the place is undergoing an overhaul? Still, the meal was fantastic so no complaints here!

We ordered four delicious entrees to share, the first being lobster!

We followed up with my mom’s favorite: pan-fried fish with string beans and Chinese black beans. I love Chinese black beans in any dish at all so really liked this dish.

My sister’s usual was next: pan-fried noodles with chicken and vegetables. Pretty standard, but they were a little oily for my taste.

Last was my choice! Pan-fried rack of lamb with some broccoli. It was delicious, really tender and well-seasoned.

What a satisfying meal! Now time for bed with a full belly of food. :)
