Breaking for Lunch
The perfect word to describe my lunch today? Scrump-diddly-umptious!
I pulled this together from my company cafeteria:
Roasted butternut squash, roasted broccoli, beets, cherry tomatoes, and a delicious Greek-style quinoa salad with olives, sundried tomatoes, and goat cheese over a bed of mesclun greens. Mmmmm. This was one of my favorite lunches in a long time! Rarely does our caf have quinoa but when they do, I’m like a fly to a light.
I ate this lunch sitting at my desk. And then I saw this vaguely terrifying article on Blisstree about people who have say they almost never eat lunch away from their desks… Gah! Unfortunately, I’ve gotten into the habit of eating at my desk. I always figure that I might as well multitask and eat while powering through my email or something, right? But I never want to be one of those people that almost never eats lunch away from their desks.
So I’ve decided to consciously try to eat lunch away from my desk at least twice a week. I know that three times a week would be better but you have to start somewhere, right? And if I’m being honest, I’m definitely still struggling with this work-life balance thing. But I’m still hoping this effort to actually break for lunch will help. Better hours would too, but can’t have it all I guess!
Here’s to a real lunch break tomorrow.

I’m thankful and lucky to have a good selection at my work as well. If not, I don’t know what I’d be munching on. I tried eating at my desk once, but my keyboard got all sticky (I’m a messy eater) and I stunk up the whole office with my vinegar dressing. Ha!
Glad I came across your blog. I look forward to reading your future posts!
