I’m someone with a natural inclination to rush. At work, I’m always rushing to finish things, even if they’re not due for a while. And even if I’m not going somewhere, I’m always in a rush in the car… which may or may not result in mild road rage. Oop!
Yesterday I realized that my morning rush has actually become insane. I’m now at the point where I can get ready for work and out the door within half an hour of getting home from my morning workout. That includes showering, blow drying and straightening my hair, getting dressed, putting on my makeup, and grabbing my breakfast (usually overnight oats). Insane, right? I think it may be time for me to “slow down and smell the roses.”
Last night, I decided to skip making my usual batch of overnight oats and to take my time this morning and eat breakfast at home. When I got home from the gym, my body was screaming three things: 1. My stomach: Feed me nut butter!!! 2. My muscles: I need protein! 3. My brain: The bananas are starting to go bad! The following breakfast resulted:
A whole wheat English muffin spread with a mix of Wild Squirrel almond butter, strawberry jam, and cottage cheese, and topped with a sliced banana and chia seeds. Yum! It was an awesome breakfast.
I didn’t get out the door until 8:10 or so (I’m usually out by 7:45), which meant I didn’t get to work until 8:40. Oh well! My breakfast was well worth it. I need to slow down to smell the metaphorical roses more!
Have a wonderful rose-smelling day!
